Momentum Makers Challenge
Step 1: Define Your Purpose
Write down your personal or movement's purpose statement. What is the core mission or problem you're addressing? Keep it concise but powerful.
Step 2: Identify the Inertia
Reflect on what is holding you back from acting on your purpose. What feels "egregiously wrong"? Write it down and acknowledge it as your starting point.
Step 3: Discover Potential Energy
Look around your community or online for signs of potential energy - people or groups who might resonate with your purpose. Note where you see this "coiled spring" of potential support or enthusiasm.
Step 4: Set Ambitiously Possible Goals
Define one goal that is challenging yet within reach. This should be something that, if achieved, would make a noticeable impact but isn't so lofty as to be demotivating.
Step 5: Cultivate Clarity of Mindset
Jettison: Write down one mindset or belief you need to let go of (e.g., "I can't make a difference").
Adopt: Write down one mindset or belief to embrace (e.g., "I am empowered to change").
Step 6: Identify Your Triggers
List one positive trigger (something that motivates or brings joy) and one negative trigger (something that provokes you into action). Reflect on how these can propel you forward.
Step 7: Plan Your First Step
Decide on one simple, actionable first step that anyone can take to join your movement. Make this step low-barrier, like signing a petition, attending a brief online session, or sharing a message.
Final Task: The Commitment
Commit to your first step by setting a date to complete it. Share this commitment with someone or post it on social media if you're comfortable, to gain accountability.
This challenge is designed to not only kickstart your movement but also to ensure it has the psychological momentum to keep growing.
Remember, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
